Buster!

I was working on the Katrina rescue with Action for Animals and this photo came across my e-mail.  Try as I might I couldn't find a home for him. I sent his photo out to several prospective 'parents' and no one was interested....how can that be?  I thought he had the sweetest face I had ever seen so.....home he came with me to become part of the brood.

Buster only weighed 5.5 lbs and was in poor health.  A few days later he was diagnosed with hyperthyroidism, and I'm happy to say that with medication he has put on 4 lbs.  He's missing a front canine tooth which gives him a perpetual sneer.  He almost was Elvis...but we settled on Buster instead.  Here is an "after" photo on how he looks today.

Ted E. Bear

Ted E. was adopted  from the Royal City Humane Society.  Sadly he had been badly abused and is quite shy..but after spending much of his early life in a cage with little human contact he is beginning to act like the young cat that he is.  He is even learning how to play.  Ted E. has discovered the thrills of mountain climbing and has learned how to get on top of my bedroom door, and my closet door.  The only difficult part for him then, is getting down.  He is the most difficult kitty to take photos of, because he always closes those baby blues when the flash goes off.

Einstein

Einstein came to live with us on June 21/2003 and immediately celebrated his first birthday on June 24/2003.  When I brought him home I had a feeling that he and Ted E. would be great friends, but I never anticipated what did happen.  From the moment I let him out of the kennel, the two of them have sniffed noses and have been best buds ever since.  They chase each other around the house at top speed and put on wrestling matches much to the delight of onlookers.  Einy is a typical ginger kitty.  Just a real going concern.  His favorite game/toy is to steal the straw out of my pop every day.  My apartment is currently littered with straws.  He runs around with them, carrying them like a dog with a bone.  Perhaps that is why his last owner had named him Dog.  I felt that needed to change as I think he was having an identity crisis. I am tickled pink to declare him my fur-son.  He brings much pleasure to my life.

Newmee

Newmee is a foster kitty from Action for Animals in Distress Society.  She came to them when another shelter was going to euthanise her and five of her companions as a result of an upper respiratory infection.  Nikki took them in, gave them lots of love, their medication, and today they all have loving homes or foster homes.  Newmee is approximately 4 years old and spent her days known as "Harvey".  After discovering she is a girl she became Newmee.  She is a delightful kitty with a purr as big as all outdoors.  I'm so happy to have her as part of my family.

Oh good golly here comes.....

Sollie

Sollie arrived late one evening in September.  Newmee was in the vet clinic very ill, and we were all very worried about her. The last thing we ever thought was that there would be a new addition to the family. I have an enclosed balcony for my fur-kids to go out and get some fresh air, and some how, some way, Sollie dropped in.  To this day I have no idea how he managed to get inside. But obviously he wanted to.  He was about 4 months old and Einstein and Ted E. adored him.  I was going to give him to Action for Animals in Distress so they could find him a good home, but he just fit right in and captured my heart.  Look at that face, how could I not keep him!
